Brilliant’s unprocessed form the diamond, which is found in rock kimberlite originally
alone. On the other hand, diamond which is found in different rocks, mostly formed
by the eroison of kimberlits or transfiguration of the sediments. Brilliants can
be found largely at, South Africa (Kimberley), East Africa, Endonesia and India.
Diamond is the processed form of the brilliant. There are 57 facets over the diamond.
Facet is an angled surface that reflects the light. Diamond is composed of the three
parts. These are the crown, belt and cone.
The name of place over the belt is crown. There are 33 facets over the crown. Because
of there are too many facets over the crown, it looks whiter than the other parts.
Belt part can be natural, polished or with facets. Belt thickness effects the diamonds
brightness. Thicker belted diamond looks more matt, in otherway thinner belted diamond
will be indurable for transfixing. Belt part makes the diamond sturdy. If there
werent belt over the diamond, stone wouldn’t be able to produce.
The part under the belt, called cone. There are 24 facets on the cone. Cone, reflects
the incoming light to the outside. A cone that cutted with right angles, reflects
the incoming light, out of the crown again. So, with this way the diamond will gain
an optimum brightness. Sometimes cone’s end can be facetted. This facet prevents
damage that may occur to the most sensitive part of diamond, the cone. Even though,
diamond, the hardest mineral in the world, are indurable to impacts from certain
directions and can be broken easily.
How should be the ideal diamond?
diamond’s value can be determine with 4C (Cut - Carat - Color - Clarity) feautres.
4C features, categorizes the diamond and known as these 4 features; cut, color,
clarity and carat sizes.
You should consider these features when buying a diamond. Diamond brightness and
beauty are related to these 4 features. As long as the diamond not damaged, it wont
lose any value of its 4C features.
1 - CUT
Diamond cut is related to stone’s symmetry and sizes. Cutting, will give diamond
to its brightness and defines ability to breaking the light. However, even a stone
with perfect color and clarity, turns into a matte stone, with bad cutting. So this
means, cutting is the most important feature of the diamond. Because, with a better
cut diamond will reflects the light flawlessly.
If a diamond cuts with right angles, incoming light from one surface, reflects out
from the other surface, and consequently light spreads out from the crown section.
If the cutting is not deep enough, the part of a light, slip through from the bottom
section called the cone. And this causes the diamond don't shine enough.
2 - CARAT
Carat is related to diamond weight. Carat is one-fifth of a gram (1ct = 0,200 gr).
Even thought the weightness is an improtant factor but it is not enough by itself
for determining the value of a diamond. Even between the same weighted two diamonds,
will have differences in their values, due to their different color, cut or clarity.
3 - COLOR
Diamond, due to reactions during the formation of its, can be found in different
colors. From dark yellow to vivid and to bright white, there are many color variations.
How close their colors to colorless, their values will increase. The most rare and
white ones are D, E, F, G.
The vast majority of natural diamonds are between of the H-A colors. Yellow tones
continues from bright to dark on the M and sub-colors. Also there are diamond with
very rare colors. These are very rare stone with prominent colors such as, pink,
blue, yellow and red. /p>
4 - CLARITY
Clarity characteristics of each diamond, fully separates from the others. There
aren't any diamonds with the same inclusions. Like as GIA, HRD diamond grading,
there are five factors using for the determining the diamonds clarity degree.
1. Size
2. Inclusion (Blemishes in diamonds or track) Numbers
3. Location
4. Natural Feature
5. Relief
